Terms of Service

The agreement between you and Studio Baton.

Effective date: August 31, 2026

Last updated: August 31, 2026

1. What this is

Studio Baton is software for private music teachers to manage their studios — students, lesson schedules, lesson notes, homework, payment tracking, and communication with families.

These terms are the agreement between you and Studio Baton. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

We have written these in plain language on purpose. If something here is unclear, ask us before you agree to it.

2. Who can use Studio Baton

You must be at least 18 to create a teacher account.

Students and parents may hold their own account, but only after a teacher has approved them into that teacher's studio. If the account holder is under 18, a parent or guardian must set it up and supervise its use.

3. Your responsibilities as a teacher

This section matters more than any other. Please read it.

You are responsible for the student information you enter. Studio Baton is a tool you use; the records are yours. That means:

You are also responsible for your account. Keep your password private. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to it.

4. What you can and cannot do

You may use Studio Baton to run your own teaching studio.

You may not:

We may suspend or close an account that does any of the above.

5. Your data belongs to you

You own the records you create in Studio Baton. We do not claim ownership of your students, your lesson notes, or your studio's information.

We store and process that information to provide the service to you, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not sell it, advertise against it, or use it to train machine learning models.

You may ask for a copy of your data or ask us to delete it. Both are currently handled manually by a person on request — there is no self-service export or delete button yet. Write to support@studiobaton.app or use the Close Your Studio page, and we will respond within 30 days.

6. Cost

Studio Baton is currently free to use. We do not ask for a card and there is nothing to buy inside the app.

We intend to offer a paid plan in future for studios above a certain size. If and when we do:

Studio Baton does not collect lesson fees from your students. We track who has paid and what is outstanding. You keep collecting however you do now — bank transfer, app, check, or cash. Any payment amount recorded in Studio Baton is a note you have made, not money that has moved through us.

7. Refunds

There is nothing to refund while the service is free. When paid plans exist, our policy will be a no-questions refund of the current billing period on request. We would rather refund you than argue with you.

8. Service availability

We work to keep Studio Baton available and your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted service. We may need to take it down for maintenance, and things occasionally break.

Studio Baton is provided as is. We do not guarantee it will be free of errors, and you should not rely on it as your only record of anything that matters financially or legally. Keep your own copies of records you cannot afford to lose, particularly payment records you may need for tax purposes.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Studio Baton is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or one hundred US dollars.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10. Ending the agreement

You can stop using Studio Baton and close your account at any time. See Account & Data Deletion.

We may suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the service. Except where you have seriously breached these terms, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data first.

If we ever shut Studio Baton down, we will give you at least 60 days' notice and a way to get your records out.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app and by email before the change takes effect. Continuing to use Studio Baton after that means you accept the new terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
